What is a year in review card?

A year-in-review card is a single image listing your top 5-7 moments, posts, or accomplishments from the year. Spotify Wrapped popularized the format; creators, brands, and individuals now post their own versions in the last week of December. The format works because it gives the viewer a structured highlight reel — five rows with rank, label, value — that's faster to scan than a long-form recap thread. The Hub Tools generator pre-loads the list template with a sample top 5, the celebratory Northern Lights mesh background, and lets you reorder and edit each row. Aim for 5 items (sweet spot — fewer feels thin, more feels cluttered) and order by impact, not chronology. Pair it with the QR Code Generator for a portfolio-link QR or the Screenshot Mockup Generator for a frame.

About year-in-review card design

Year-in-review cards use the list template: a title ("Top moments of the year"), 5-7 ranked rows, and an optional value column on the right that reads as engagement data or year markers.
  • Rank column is rendered in the accent color and is the leftmost element
  • Label column truncates with ellipsis if it exceeds the available width
  • Value column right-aligns and applies abbreviation (124,000 → 124K) when the abbreviate toggle is on
  • Light separator lines between rows at 15% opacity keep the list readable without dominating the design

Frequently asked questions

How many items should a year-in-review card have?
5 is the sweet spot. 3 feels thin ("only three?"); 7+ gets crowded and the bottom rows shrink. The card's list template displays up to 7 items; for a packed year, pick the top 5 and post the others as a follow-up thread. Order matters: lead with the most universally-impressive item, finish with one that adds personality ("learned to bake sourdough").
